UPS Packages Delayed After Holiday Surge

ups(WGGB) – Some UPS customers won’t have their Christmas gifts under the tree this year. That’s because many package deliveries have been stalled.

UPS is blaming the high volume of packages sent through their service in the last few days. In an update on their website, the company informed it’s customers that it “is experiencing heavy holiday volume and making every effort to get packages to their destination; however, the volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network immediately preceding Christmas so some shipments were delayed.”

They also say that they will not be making any deliveries on Christmas Day, and will resume their service on Thursday. If you’re waiting on a package to arrive, you could have a few days wait ahead of you.

You can check on the status of any shipments you have with UPS through their website.

The UPS delivery people need to have time with their families after their hectic season before Christmas too. I sure wouldn’t want their job at this time of year!

There are a lot of hard working people there, I think their computer system should be updated to help prevent problems. According to their tracking system, my package left the West Springfield facility on Friday, 12/20 for delivery to my home. I still haven’t received it, and all that happens is the delivery date gets switched. The funny thing is that another package I ordered on 12/22 arrived yesterday. Where is the earlier package?
