Driving Drunk Can Have Tragic Consequences
Last summer a Hampden County Superior Court Jury found Daniel Leary of Southwick guilty of motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol in the death of 29-year old West Springfield native David Laduzenski.
Leary is serving a state prison term.
Laduzenski’s family is left with heartache and only memories of David,”You move on with your life but there’s something missing and that’s our son,” says David’s father Donald Laduzenski.
David’s mother Ann Marie Laduzenski still feels the pain of her son’s loss as well,”All I can say it’s a sad day for two families,” says Ann Marie Laduzenski.
Vic Anop, David Laduzenski’s cousin had this message for anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking,”Those who are drinking and driving have to understand that their life will be ruined, even if they don’t care about other people, they have to think about themselves and their immediate families because they have to go through this too, and the defendant in our case his family is suffering as well but in a different way,” says Vic Anop.
The message is re-iterated by state police,”The state police tonight as with every night will be out looking for operators under the influence of alcohol, and making arrests for those people,” says Trooper Douglas Grout.
There are no winners if you’re driving drunk, especially if you injure or kill someone.
If you’re drinking, have a designated driver or call a cab.
