Paul Walker

Paul Walker died in November at the age of 40, but it seems his Fast and the Furious character Brian O’Connor won’t meet the same fate.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walker’s character won’t die, but will be “retired” in the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. Universal, the studio behind the long-running franchise, will make use of the existing footage of Walker from the upcoming film to craft an exit the studio hopes will satisfy fans.

Remember other celebrities we lost in 2013

Walker died about halfway through shooting of the sequel, which is now set to hit theaters on April 10, 2015, eight months after the film’s original release date.

The film’s director, screenwriter and the studio will have to adjust the script and add scenes so footage of Walker can be used while still allowing the lucrative franchise can continue without him.

What do you think of the plan to retire Brian O’Connor? Will you miss him?
