Long Duration Storm Behaves as Predicted

NWSSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Around a half a foot of snow has fallen in greater Springfield and Northampton. Amounts are a bit higher across the hills and Franklin County.

This long duration storm behaved as predicted here in western Mass. with the snow falling lightly yesterday then picking up in intensity last night.

Snowfall amounts came in as expected with the highest amount along the shore of eastern Mass. Some towns along the North Shore of Boston and into Essex County picked up between one to two feet of snow! We can expect perhaps another coating before it completely shuts off later this morning.

The snow is winding down but the bitter cold and wind will be stay with us. Temperatures will stay mainly in the single digits this morning.
