A Bit of Freezing Rain May Cause Some Icy Spots

Weather-Icey RoadsSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) Clouds will continue to thicken up this afternoon as temperatures rise to near freezing. Some very light freezing rain will arrive later this afternoon and evening causing some tricky travel.

We are not expecting much precipitation this evening but when it comes to freezing rain, it doesn’t take much to cause problems. With temperatures at or below freezing, a slight glaze could form so be sure to take it slow.  Because of this, a Freezing Rain Advisory goes into effect at 3pm this afternoon until midnight tonight for all of Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties. Later tonight temperatures will inch above freezing, taking care of any freezing rain concerns, so the morning commute should be just wet and not icy, at least here in the valley.

In the Berkshires, the icing concerns could last into the early morning hours so a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for Berkshire County at 4pm and will continue until 6am tomorrow morning.

Have a great afternoon and take it slow!
