Hadley Celebrates A New Year, New Start

HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — More than two months after a fire wiped out several Hadley businesses and residences, a “New Year, New Start” benefit concert was held for some of the victims at Amherst Middle School.

Donations were accepted for Ban Mi Strong, Casablanca Halal Market, International Market, Mi Tierra Restaurant, and Wing Wong.

Audience members were treated to a variety of music from The Joe Belmont Trio’s R&B & Jazz set, to Folk-Rock band Show of Cards.

Organizers say they felt a personal connection to help out. “My own family was an immigrant family, so some of the dishes we like to make, we can only find the ingredients at the International Market, so there is a little hole in our regular routine that we can’t go there anymore.” Karen Cardozo said.

This is just the first of many upcoming benefits, including the Rebuild Mi Tierra Fiesta,

An evening of food, music, and a live auction scheduled for Saturday, January 24th, at 7pm at the Look Park Garden House.
