(WGGB) — The Springfield Armor have lost the first game of the NBA D-League Showcase to the Reno Bighorns, 121-79
In the first quarter, Reno drained seven three-pointers, with K.C. Rivers leading the way going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Down 35-24 going into the second quarter, the Armor began to hit their stride, going on 14-2 run and tying the game at 43 halfway through the quarter.
However, Bighorns answered with a 9-0 run to lead 61-51 at the half.
In the second half, Reno blew the lead open to 30 points with just under three minutes left in the third, and there was no looking back for the Bighorns.
Reno held on to that double-digit lead in the fourth and ended up winning 121-79.
With the loss, the Armor fall to 0-7 all-time against Reno, and 4-12 on the 2013-2014 season.
Reno continued to shoot hot, finishing up the third by outscoring the Armor 31-9 to take a 92-60 edge into the fourth. Springfield’s nine points in the frame were just two shy of the franchise’s all-time low.
The Armor take on the Iowa Energy Thursday night in their final game in the showcase.
