CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — After a few week break for the holiday vacation, the ABC40 Honor Roll is ready to kick off a new year of visits to area schools.

With Honor Roll LIVE, we look to shine the spotlight on one local school every Friday.

This week, we are heading to the home of the Pacers – Chicopee High School.

“Pump, pump it up, pump that pacer spirit up!” The Cheerleaders yelled to the crowd. Cranking up the energy an ABC40 wake up call 5am Friday morning.

Principal Roland Joyle and Vice Principal Carol Kruser introduced us to their dedicated students. Members from every school club filled the halls. The Key Club, Class Councils, and academic achievers were all there.

“What is it like to be in Advanced Placement classes that really prepare you for college?] Well, the course load is hard and the courses are rigorous,” explains AP student, Destiny Williams.

“National Honor Society is a group of students who work hard to do well academically and take leadership rolls in the community,” Joseph Adona adds.

International and Diversity Club shared games and clothing from around the world, RAD self defence demonstrations were given and sport teams from every season were there too.

The band showcased their music and drama club gave us a sneak preview of their “Charlie Brown” production coming up in March.

“[I'm sure you're proud of all of your fellow classmates.] Oh definitely, yeah we have a lot of pride,” answers Senior Class President, Blake Balathunis.

Next Friday, we will be heading to Belchertown High for Honor Roll LIVE.

We always like to hear about the good things going on in your school. Drop us an email with all the information, along with pictures and video if you have it, to 40inthemorning@wggb.com
