Two Men Held After Shootout With Holyoke Police

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) – Two men are being held by the Holyoke Police Department this morning, following a Friday night shootout involving a Holyoke Detective.

A spokesperson with the Holyoke Police Department says the men were arrested just before midnight on Friday, but had no further information as to their identities, or the location in which they were apprehended.

Police say around 10PM a detective was responding to South Elm Street for a report of shots fired. When he arrived on scene, he encountered two possible suspects. While trying to arrest them, one of the suspects started shooting at him. The detective then returned fire as a chase through city streets and backyards ensued.
