PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island state police say authorities have arrested a juvenile in the western Massachusetts town of Springfield on allegations that he and a second man robbed two convenience stores in the Ocean State and may have committed similar crimes in Connecticut.
Rhode Island State Police Superintendent Col. Steven O’Donnell his officers and Massachusetts state police arrested the juvenile suspect on Friday in Springfield. The Hampton County Juvenile Court ordered him held without bail pending an extradition hearing.
The juvenile’s arrest occurred less than a week after 23-year-old Monchi Castillo of Springfield, Mass., was charged with first-degree robbery and other crimes for his alleged roles in armed robberies in Cranston and Coventry. The juvenile faces similar charges.
O’Donnell did not release information on robberies the two are suspected to have committed in Connecticut.
