Springfield Police Investigate St. James Avenue Bank Robbery
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police are investigating the late morning robbery of a Springfield bank.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that around 11:30 a.m., a suspect walked into the United Bank on St. James Avenue and passed a teller a note.
That note, Delaney adds, demanded money and indicated that the suspect was armed with a gun. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash the robber fled towards St. James Avenue.
The suspect is described as a black male, who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sunglasses, and a Harley Davidson baseball hat with a beige doo-rag underneath.
The Pottenger School on Carew Street was put into lockdown for a brief time.
No injuries were reported.
