Falcons ride second period past Phantoms
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Two days removed from a four-goal third period against Providence, four separate goal scorers spearheaded the Falcons’ second period onslaught as Springfield cruised past Adirondack, 4-1, Monday afternoon at the MassMutual Center.
With the game scoreless starting the second period, left winger Jean-Francois Jacques opened the scoring for the home team after being set up by right winger Spencer Machek and defenseman Blake Parlett. The Falcons would erupt from there.
Center Lukas Sedlak, defenseman Cody Goloubef and center Michael Chaput each tallied goals over the next seven-minute span to put the game well in control.
Goalie Mike McKenna netted 30 saves to record his 10th win of the season.
Adirondack’s lone goal came by way of right-winger Brandon Alderson in the third.
With the third-consecutive victory, the Falcons jump atop the AHL standings in total points with 60 and wins with 28. The team returns to the ice Friday, January 24 against Hartford at the XL Center.
