Two People Under Arrest Following Robbery of Allen Street Store
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Two people are under arrest after a reported robbery at a Springfield convenience store.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that around 7:10 p.m., Spring Valley Food Mart at 343 Allen Street was reportedly robbed.
After the robbery, Delaney explains that the clerk went outside the store, flagged down two officers, and pointed out a getaway car to the officers.
Those officers gave chase to the car, which stopped at the TD Bank on Sumner Avenue, where two people in the car bailed and fled on foot.
Officers chased the car down West Alvord Street onto Sumner Ave near the TD Bank. The two suspects in the car ran across the street, engaging officers in a foot pursuit. They were both caught near Sorrento Street and were arrested on spot.
A 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody on Sorrento Street. Delaney adds that a full-loaded .357 Magnum was recovered.
A second suspect, whom Delaney describes as the getaway driver, was also chased down and arrested.
