WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Last night, the 40 Force received a number of phone calls over your concerns of potentially wasteful government spending.
John from Westfield called over concerns that work on the Pochassic Bridge in Westfield was taking too long.
The bridge was shut down in 2010 for emergency repairs. John also noted that the closure has lead to rerouted traffic, backups, and issues around the high school.
ABC40 reached out to the Mass. Department of Transportation.
MassDOT spokesperson Mike Verseckes tells us that after the bridge was shut down, it then took two years for the new project to be designged, bid on, and funded
The actual construction began in the spring of 2012.
The bridge is scheduled to be completed – on schedule – this june.
