GRANBY, Mass. (WGGB) — A special recognition Tuesday for Granby Public Safety.
The dispatch center received accreditation for its dispatch services from the emergency dispatch protocol provider PowerPhone.
The state mandated that all departments to adopt the protocol system, which required new systems and training.
“When I started dispatch responsibilities, it included a radio a pad and pen. That’s multiplied ten times to computer related radio interconnected computers, emergency medical dispatch. There’s just so much now that it’s truly its own profession,” explains Granby Police Chief Alan Wishart.
Granby is the first town in Western Massachusetts to become accredited and recognized.
