Over 200K Britax Strollers Recalled Over Concerns of Finger Injuries

(WGGB) — Britax Child Safety has issued a voluntary recall of about 216,000 strollers over concerns that fingers can be injured while folding the stroller.

The recall involves Britax B-Agile, Britax B-Agile Double, and BOB Motion strollers, which were manufactured between March 2011 and June 2013.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that there is a concern that when someone presses the release button while pulling on the release strap, the hinge on the stroller’s folding mechanism can partially amputate fingertips, break fingers, cause severe cuts, along with other injuries.

Britax has received eight reports of problems with the strollers. One incident included a partial fingertip amputation, one broken finger, and severe finger lacerations.

The strollers being recalled come in various colors, including black, red, sandstone, kiwi, navy, and orange. They were sold through many major retail stores across the country, as well as several online retailers, including Amazon.com, albeebaby.com, buybuybaby.com, diapers.com, toyrsus.com, and others.

Model numbers include:

  • B-Agile Strollers – U341763, U341764, U341782 and U341783
  • B-Agile Double Strollers – U361818 and U361819
  • BOB Motion Strollers – U391820, U391821 and U391822

Those model numbers, along with the manufacture date, can be found on a label on the inside of the metal frame, near the right rear wheel.

Owners of the strollers are being urged to stop using the recalled strollers immediately.

Britax is in the process of sending out a repair kit to registered owners.  The company is asking that if you own one of the impacted strollers and have not yet registered their product or need to verify an existing registration to visit their website.

Customers with any questions can visit Britax’s website or contact the company by email at strollerrecall@britax.com or by phone at (866) 204-1665 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday.

The company adds that free repair kids will be automatically sent upon registration.
