Storm Heads to Midwest as East Coast Digs Out

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — As the East Coast digs out from a snowstorm that shut schools and emptied workplaces, another hit is expected to sock the Midwest.

The National Weather Service says snow will cover parts of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio during the afternoon rush hour Tuesday. The heaviest accumulations are expected in Kansas and Missouri.

Monday’s storm dumped 8 inches of snow on New York City, 3 to 9 inches on the Philadelphia area and up to 9 inches in central New Jersey. More snow is expected in the Northeast late Tuesday into early Wednesday with up to 4 to 7 inches of in the New York area followed by freezing rain and sleet.
Wichita, Kansas, deputy director of public works Joseph T. Pajor calls it a “pretty amazing winter.”
