UMass Student Hit by Car in Crosswalk for Second Night in a Row

Police-Pedestrian killedAMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) – Another UMass student was hit by a car while crossing a crosswalk on campus. This comes one night after three UMass students were hit by car Monday night in the same crosswalk.

The student was a male and he was taken to Baystate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not a UMass student.

Police do not believe weather was a factor in the accident and are currently investigating further.

No word whether charges will be made against the driver or not.

If you’ve ever been driving in that area you know how many people just walk into the crosswalk without ever thinking or looking first. I know people have the right of way. But when I step into a crosswalk I make sure the car stops. People think once you step in the lines you have a shield around you.
