Westfield Holds First Citizen Academy Class

westfield citizen police academyWESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Citizen police held their first night of classes in Westfield Tuesday night.

The Westfield Police Department accepted 20 people to become members of the Westfield Citizen Police Academy. The 12-week program has a goal to give its members an inside look at law enforcement so they can have a greater understanding of what it takes to serve and protect.

“They’ll go over some of the criminal laws, case laws. They’ll get some introduction to the judicial system. We’ll actually bring them to the firing range, go over patrol procedures, financial crimes, [etc.] We try and give them a little bit of everything,” said Sgt. Eric Hall of the Westfield Police Department.

If you want to join the Westfield Citizen Academy contact Sgt. Eric Hall at 413-642-9383, or email him at E.Hall@cityofWestfield.org.
