Heavy Snowfall Causes Problems for Early Morning Drivers

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) – The snow has only just begun falling, but already it’s causing a mess on the roads in Hampden County.

ABC40′s Brittany Decker is out live this morning checking the conditions in Holyoke along I-91. As of 5:30 this morning, snow was piling up faster than plows could take care of it. Drivers were moving at a severely reduce speed, some even needing to pull off into nearby parking lots to clean snow, ice, and slush from windshield wipers.

Holyoke Police have so far not reported any accidents on the roads, but that could change as traffic increases.

The Massachusetts State Police have already reduced speeds on the Mass Pike to 40 miles per hour between the New York line and the I-495 Exit.
