UMass snaps mini skid, handles La Salle

Amherst, Mass. (WGGB) — Chaz Williams paced his team with 17 points and eight assists and Raphael Putney chipped in with eight points, 11 rebounds and five blocks as UMass responded from back-to-back losses to top La Salle, 79-67.

Two days after tumbling out of the Top 25 Associated Press poll, UMass resembled the team that garnered their number 12 ranking two weeks ago leading for all but three minutes and 50 seconds.

Following three straight road losses, the Minutemen move to 9-0 on their home floor at the Mullins Center in Amherst and 5-3 in Atlantic-10 play.

Jerrell Wright lead the Explorers with 16 points and seven rebounds.
