2014 Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Colleen Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) –Tonight we found out who the next Colleen will be for Springfield’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Colleen Cronation Ball at The Cedars in Springfield tonight.

After earlier preliminaries, it was narrowed down to 5 finalists, including the young lady picked to be the Colleen, and those who will be in her court.

Last year’s Colleen expressed her excitement and pride for the event. “Being a colleen is being extremely proud of their Irish heritage. I always enjoyed learning more about my Irish heritage,” Mary Kate Sullivan said. “Colleen will be expected to represent the city of Springfield., and surrounding towns, throughout the holiday and the year, because we also do the big balloon parade, promote our Irish heritage, and good will amongst all of us,” stated Alesia Barbaro, Co-Chair of Springfield’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.

ABC40’s Brittany Decker emceed the event.

Tomorrow at 12:30 at the Holyoke Elks, there will be a quick introduction to the Holyoke parade committee.
