Sunshine Mixing with a Few Clouds this Afternoon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — After a very cold start this morning today will feature more dry, chilly weather with high temperatures in the mid 20s this afternoon. Sunshine will fade to clouds tomorrow afternoon as an area of low pressure passes out-to-sea and weak jet stream energy approaches. As the energy passes nearby tomorrow night, it may be just close enough and strong enough to trigger some flurries and maybe a snow shower late tonight, though I think most areas stay dry. The best chance of seeing this would be in the elevated locations.

The upper-level energy from this system will track in from the Great Lakes Sunday evening and Sunday night and give us some occasional light snow or a few snow showers then. A light accumulation of about an inch of snow is possible overnight (coating-2″ for a range).

After this weak system moves away, it will go back to being dry and cold for Monday through the middle of next week. The next storm threat of either snow or rain arrives along sometime late Thursday or early Friday.

Have a great weekend!
