George Mason hands UMass first home loss
AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) — Sherrod Wright was one of five Patriots in double-figures with 22 points to help lead George Mason past UMass 91-80.
Three weeks removed from nearly upsetting the Minutemen, at the time ranked #16, the Patriots looked tonight as if they were the team who was once ranked leading for all but three minutes.
Erik Copes chipped in with 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Patriots. Tre Davis lead the Minutemen with 20 points off the bench. Wooden Award candidate Chaz Williams tallied only 8 points on three of 15 shooting.
UMass falls to 6-4 in Atlantic 10 play and 10-1 at the Mullins Center. They return to action Sunday in Washington, D.C. against George Washington. Tip off is at 2.
