Falcons Fall to Sound Tigers 5-2, Lose Third-Straight

falcons20thSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — For only the fourth time this season, the Springfield Falcons saw a losing streak climb to three games, after another loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-2 Saturday.

The Falcons started strong, with a goal from Tim Erixon just 3:31 into the game. That gave Springfield their only lead of the game.

From there, it was all Sound Tigers. They tallied three goals in the remainder of the first period to jump out to a 3-1 lead.

Defenseman Matt Donovan converted on two power play goals, giving him six goals on the season. Jake Newton, Johan Sundstrom and Ryan Strome all added goals for the Sound Tigers to pull away from the Falcons.

Andrew Jourdrey scored the other Springfield goal in the second period, but it wasn’t enough to avoid only their fourth regulation game in which they scored the first goal.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, as they take on the Worcester Sharks at 3:00 p.m.
