UMass bounces back with win at George Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WGGB) — Coming off their most disheartening defeat of the season, UMass bounced back in resilient fashion earning a tough road victory at George Washington, 67-61. UMass moves to 20-5 and 7-4 in Atlantic-10 play. George Washington drops to 19-6 and 7-4 in the conference.
Sampson Carter paced the Minutemen with a team-high 20 points. Coming off a three of 15 shooting performance in Wednesday’s loss to George Mason, Chaz Williams again struggled shooting only three of 11 recording eight points, six assists and five rebounds.
Patricio Garino led the Colonials with 20 points.
For the time being, UMass jumps to a two-way tie for fifth in the conference with an opportunity to move up to fourth with a Richmond loss later today. The Minutemen return to action Friday, February 21 against VCU at the Mullins Centers.
