Falcons Top Sharks 4-1 on Chaput’s First Hat Trick
With three-straight losses coming into the contest for the Falcons, Michael Chaput helped them recover and continue their push for the AHL’s best record. Chaput got the first hat trick of his career, and the first by a Falcon since Jonathan Marchessault on January 15, 2013.
Chaput scored a power-play goal in the first period to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Then, he extended the team’s lead with a slap shot goal in the second period. His third and final goal came with 2:17 remaining in regulation to seal the Springfield win.
Falcons goalie Mike McKenna was solid in net, making 29 saves on 30 shots for his 14th victory of the season.
The Falcons will be off for the week, before they return to action Friday, February 21 on the road against he Manchester Monarchs. They’ll be back at the MassMutual Center the next day to host the Hartford Wolf Pack.
