February Doubles Average Snow for the Month

snSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – I’m sure you don’t need to be reminded.  All you have to do is look out the window or try to navigate around town and it’s pretty easy to see that February has been a snowy month, not to mention cold too. Much of western Massachusetts is blanketed with up to two feet of snow!

Springfield averages about 15 to 16″ of snow during the month of February and already we’ve nearly doubled that. We’ve unofficial received 31″ of snow here at the abc40 studios on the Springfield- Chicopee line which brings our unofficial, seasonal snow total to 53″, over the seasonal average of 52″.

Seven out of eighteen days this month have featured at least 1″ of snow accumulation.

Here are the unofficial snow totals for each day this month.

3rd – 2″, 5th – 10″, 9th – 1″, 13th – 10″, 14th – 3″, 15th – 1″, 18th – 4″ (31″ total)

Here are other days it snowed this season:

December: 10th – 1″, 14th – 4″,  15th – 1″, 17th – 4″, 26th 1″ (11″ total)

January: 2nd -6″, 10th – 1.5″, 18th -1.5″, 21st -1″, 25th -1″ (11″ total)
