40 Force: Adopt-A-Thon

(WGGB) — Every week on 40′s Friends, we highlight one animal at the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center that is looking for a new home.

This week, the 40 Force takes the reins and is teaming up with TJO to help find homes for dozens of pets.

With your help, over two dozen animals were adopted during our last adopt-a-thon last summer.

Tuesday night, we highlighted cats and dogs that are in need of good, loving, forever homes.

Screen Shot 2014-02-20 at 6.21.37 PMTonight, we are also launching a new way to help TJO.

It’s very simple: like WGGBSpringfield on Facebook.

If we get 7,000 new likes in 7 days – by Thursday, February 27 – ABC40 will donate $3,000 to the center.

So spread the word, like WGGBSpringfield, and help us help TJO.

If you would like to adopt any animal featured tonight, or any other pet at TJO, you are encouraged to go down and visit their center at 627 Cottage Street, Springfield.

The center is open Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It closed on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and holidays.

You can also call them at (413) 781-1484.

As always, you can visit our 40′s Friends page at wggb.com for more information on pets we have featured tonight and others available at TJO.

Do you do this for Dakin too? IMHO Dakin is far more worthy of your attentions. O Connors is a KILL shelter, and puts down animals that could be saved. Dakin while not yet fully a no kill shelter, is at least working towards the goal of no kill. TJ’s went downhill fast as soon as that idiot Pam Peebles took over. She destroyed the MSPCA in Spfld, then went over and started to destroy TJ’s. Support Dakin that will eventually be no kill like their other shelter.

Hi Ed, I am not sure why you would sat that TJO is a kill shelter. It is my understanding that they only euthnize aggressive animals and those that can not be medically treated. They featured a wide variety of animals last night and they all appeared to be living. In fact they were talking about all of the specialized surgeries that they have been doing to make sure that the animals are getting proper car. How are you affialated with TJO (or Dakin for that matter) to make such a claim? Dakin is not a no kill facility. They recently even posted that they weren’t on their facebook. If you do not like Pam Peebles that is one thing, but please realize that your words will only hurt the animals.
