West Springfield Building Partially Collapses from Heavy Snow

wspflbldg2
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The heavy snow pack caused damage to one West Springfield building Thursday.

West Springfield Deputy Fire Chief Dan Borsari says that around 7:45 a.m. Thursday, they received a call that a building at 133 Norman Street had partially collapsed.

Borsari adds that it appears that snow pack atop the low sloped roof forced the walls to be pushed out.

The building, which Borsari says is used for storage by a town resident, will have to be torn down.

The area around the structure has been cordoned off and secured.

Nobody was inside the building at the time.
