State Police Troopers arrested 51-year-old Daniel Burnett after an investigation into sexual assault of a minor. He was charged with six counts of rape and abuse of a child and six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
The investigation revealed numerous instances of sexual assault of a minor by Burnett between September of 2013 and this past January. The assaults are alleged to have happened at Burnett’s residence. He was transported to the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge where he was booked and held pending his arraignment in Palmer District Court.
Burnett was deemed a Level Three Sex Offender in August of 1993 after he was convicted of one count of Rape of a Child and two counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child. He was also convicted of two counts of Rape of a Child and five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child a month later. He was given an eight to ten year sentence.
