Potholes Cover Homestead Ave. in Holyoke
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB)- From damaged cars to traffic jams, pot holes are causing major problems all around the region.
The biggest concern is in high traffic areas like on Homestead Avenue in Holyoke.
Residents on the street see issues daily.
“They’re a big problem and cause horrible traffic issues to get in and out of the driveway. You hear bang, bang all night long,” says Erin Cubi, homeowner on Homestead Avenue.
The road is narrow because of snow banks and these holes that line the street. Coming from Lower Westfield Road seems to be the biggest issue. Unless you cross the yellow line to the other side, you will likely hear the clunk.
“It’s terrible you have to wait for the cars to go by until you can actually make the turn or you’re going to knock off your hub cap or get a flat tire. It’s very terrible they’ve got to be 4 or 5 inches,” says driver, Joe Minardi.
Many potholes are even deeper, and it is hard to tell right away because of water filling the holes. But many drivers are taking and slow.
“People do complain but what are you going to do. It’s the weather; Mother Nature can’t help it. The guys are working hard in this weather and we should appreciate them working,” says Gurinder Dhaliwal, Manager of Dino’s Pizza on Homestead Ave.
Holyoke DPW crews will be out fixing potholes tomorrow. They say homestead is on the top of the list.
