SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — The sounds of tribute rang out at the St. John’s Congressional Church Sunday night.
Dozens gathered for the 4th Annual Du Bois Springfield Tribute Day as part of a Black History Month celebration.
Participants ”looked back and stepped forward” as they marked the birthday of western Mass. native W.E.B. Du Bois, and acknowledged his work and that of several other Springfield natives.
There was plenty of singing and speakers, including Adrienne Cobb Brooks, a director at the National Museum of African American History in Washington, D.C.
