Falcons Close Rough Month with 3-2 Loss to Admirals

falcons20thSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — A rough weekend continued for the Springfield Falcons Sunday, as they dropped their second-straight game in a 3-2 loss to the Norfolk Admirals.

Things started on the wrong foot for the Falcons (33-17-1-4), as the Admirals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Falcons quickly erased that deficit with two straight goals from Darryl Boyce and Sean Collins.

The teams carried the tie into the third period, but that’s where Admiral Rickard Rakell netted the go-ahead goal with 12:34 left in the game. His 12th goal of the season would eventually give Norfolk the win.

The loss was the Falcons’ second-straight, and their fifth in their last seven games.

They closed their February schedule at a mediocre record of 5-6 on the month. However, they remain in first place in their division.

They’ll be in action at the MassMutual Center again on Saturday, March 1st when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m.
