Springfield Fire Investigates After Car Set on Fire

SpfldFireSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — The Springfield Fire Department is investigating a car fire that they believe was set in Springfield early Sunday morning.

Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger says that firefighters responded to the scene near Riverside Road around 12:30 a.m.

The 1992 Accura sedan was completely destroyed by the flames, but firefighters were able to put it out.

No one was injured, but Leger says it is a common place for people to deliberately set fire to their cars without anyone seeing them.

Firefighters are hoping to get more information on this incident. If you saw anything, you’re asked to call the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad at 413) 787-4527.
