Known Springfield Gang Member Arrested
Joseph Darco, 24, was wanted for a Hampden County Court Default Warrant for Armed Burglary when Detectives Michael Goggin, Christopher Bates and other members of the Warrant Apprehension Unit arrested him.
The investigation determined Darco was hiding at 280 Walnut Street. Detectives surrounded the residence and gained access at the front door. When officers entered the house, Darco fled to the bedroom to attempt to arm himself with a handgun underneath the bed. Officers detained him before he could reach it and arrested him.
In the bedroom they found a .38 caliber revolver that was fully loaded and Cocaine, along with packaging material and scales. ABC 40 also learned that three snakes were rescued from the residence as well.
Darco is to be held on $100,000 cash bail due to his violent past.
