UMass Football Announces 2014 Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) — UMass Athletics and the Mid-Atlantic Conference have announced the Minutemen’s 2014 football schedule.

Six of the team’s twelve regular season games will be home games. Three of those home games return to the UMass campus and McGuirk Alumni Stadium after a two-season hiatus.

The Minutemen open the season on August 30, under new head coach Mark Whipple, at Gillette Stadium against the Boston College Eagles.

Homecoming will be on September 27 at McGuirk against Bowling Green.

This season will also mark the first time UMass will play Penn State, Colorado, Kent State, and Eastern Michigan.

On Wednesday, November 12, UMass will host Ball State at 8:00 p.m. at McGuirk. That game will be carried either on ESPN2 or ESPNU, and will mark the first nationally televised game at McGuirk since the Football Championship Series playoffs in 1998.

The game on November 18 on the road at Akron will also be televised – either on ESPNU or ESPN3.com.

The final game of the season will be in Amherst on Friday, November 28 against Buffalo. That game is part of the ESPN Flex Game schedule, where two MAC games will be chosen to air on ESPNU or ESPN3.com
