Oscars "In Memoriam" Leaves Out Cory Monteith, James Avery, Dennis Farina
The tribute honored stars who’ve passed away since last year’s Academy Awards, such as James Gandolfini, Paul Walker, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Harold Ramis. An acknowledgement to camera assistant Sarah Jones, who died last week after being hit by a train on the set of the Gregg Allman biopic Midnight Rider, was even added last minute.
Others excluded were Tom Clancy, Marcia Wallace, Lisa Robin Kelly, Gary David Goldberg, Lee Thompson Young, Phil Everly, Phil Ramone, Lou Reed, Pete Seeger, Alicia Rhett, Alain Resnais, producer Jim Jacks and Ruth Robinson Duccini, who was one of the last surviving Munchkins fromThe Wizard of Oz, which received a separate tribute during the show.
Alice Herz-Sommer, the subject of documentary short winner The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life who passed away last week at the age of 110, was also not included.
The Oscars website features a photo gallery version of the “In Memoriam,” which does feature many of the stars who were left out in the broadcast montage.
