Above the Rim: Longmeadow Girls and Boys Advance, Western Mass Finals Set

AMHERST, Ma (WGGB)—The final two Western Mass semifinals took place Thursday night at the Curry Hicks Cage, setting the stage for Western Mass Championships tomorrow and Saturday.

Longmeadow had a clean sweep as both the girls and boys teams will advance to the Division II Western Mass championships on Saturday.

The boys routed North Middlesex, 54-33 and the girls outlasted Pittsfield, 65-51.

In hockey, Wahconah took home their first Western Mass Championship as they beat Chicopee 7-6 for the Divison IIIA title.  Westfield continued their dominance in Division III beating #1 seed Agawam 6-4. And in the Super 8 tournament, Cathedral eliminated Duxbury with a 6-4 win and advance to the quarterfinals this Wednesday against Malden Catholic.
