Baystate Visiting Nurses, Nurses Association Reach Contract Agreement

BAYSTATE FISCALSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice and the Mass. Nurses Association reached an agreement on a new contract Thursday.

The agreement includes the union’s acceptance of Baystate’s standard health benefits program, compromises on salary increases for the RNs through 2015, and a signing incentive payment based on hours worked weekly.

It also says the nurses will not receive wage increase for 2013 and they will have a 3% increase effective March 30, 2014.

“We are pleased to reach this agreement and we appreciate the union’s willingness to compromise to reach a deal,” said Maura McQueeney, president of BVNAH. “Now we can return our focus 100% to continuing to evolve to meet the challenges of healthcare reform, and caring for our patients with quality and compassion.”

The MNA has agreed to drop its unfair labor practice charge against BVNAH under this agreement.

If ratified, the new contract will extend to March 31, 2015.
