Grey's Anatomy Recap: "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away"

The new rule at Grey Sloan causes quite a bit of drama during Thursday’s Grey’s Anatomy, mostly because no one is following it, especially those who put it into action.

Not long after Owen announces the new rule to the staff, Alex and Jo publicly break up. But their feud is just a ruse so they can continue dating without their co-workers finding out the truth. That, of course, doesn’t last long when they are caught in a supply closet … by April and Jackson. No, it’s not an orgy. They all just chose the same supply closet.

The new rule causes Jo to lash out at Stephanie, assuming that she’s the one who filed the complaint. It actually causes a divide between the interns until Leah fesses up that it was she who filed the complaint. The group — minus Jo, who doesn’t yet know the truth — heads to the bar to celebrate/commiserate after bonding over a case.

But when judgment time comes, Jackson and April aren’t the couple who get scolded since they reveal to the board that they’re actually married. Alex, however, screams at the board, unafraid of the consequences, which leaves Jo in an uncomfortable position.

Before all this craziness goes down, Derek plans to head to Washington, D.C. for another interview with the White House, so Meredith invites Cristina over for a night of drinks. (It’s wine instead of tequila. The twisted sisters have really grown up!) But when Derek’s interview gets canceled and he returns home early, Cristina heads to Owen’s trailer to congratulate him on deciding to move in with Emma. The duo gets drunk and — get excited C/O fans — sleep together!

But when Emma later admits to Owen that she wants three kids, after which she plans to stop working to focus on being a mother, he realizes that he wants the best of both worlds: Someone who wants kids and who is career-driven. So, he breaks it off with Emma.

There is also some cuteness when Callie buys Arizona a new ring to signify their fresh start, which leads to sexy time. Good for them! Also, Derek does get the job. In fact, he’ll be running the program, which frustrates Meredith, but they also have sexy time!

Are you happy that Cristina and Owen hooked up? What do you think will happen to Alex after he yelled at the board? Hit the comments!
