“The officers could observe with the illumination of their flashlights that the sleeping man had a white powdery substance covering his lap and bags of Marijuana,” Delaney explains, adding that officers then woke the driver, identified as 27-year-old Brandon Chambers of Springfield, and had him exit the car.
Investigators reportedly seized a digital scale, a Marijuana grinding tool, packaging materials, cell phones, seven bags of Heroin, a bag of Cocaine, a bag of Heroin, and $1,100.
Chambers was arrested and charged with possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, and possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.
In a third incident, investigators with the department’s Street Crime Unit reportedly saw two women involved in a drug deal near Saratoga Street and Dwight Street extension.
The women, identified by police as 28-year-old Nicole Madru and 27-year-old Jessica Chaclas, both of Springfield, were seen getting into a van.
Delaney says that officers pulled the van over a short time later and found 21 bags of Heroin and 3 grams of Crack Cocaine, and $1,891 in cash in the van.
Madru has been charged with possession of Heroin and Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, while Chaclas is charged with distribution of Cocaine.
