FOX News Cuts Ties with Scott Brown as He Explores Senate Bid

By STEVE PEOPLES, Associated Press

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Fox News Channel has cut ties with Scott Brown after the former Massachusetts senator notified the network that he intends to form an exploratory committee for a Senate candidacy from New Hampshire.

Fox News executive vice president of programming Bill Shine said Brown’s paid contributor contract was terminated on Friday.

The move confirms Brown’s plans to formally enter the race against Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Brown so far has refused to comment publicly on his intentions.

Brown has been telling top New Hampshire Republicans that he plans to launch an exploratory committee as soon as Friday. He is set to speak at a Republican conference in Nashua, N.H., on Friday afternoon.

Fox deals are ended if paid contributors take formal steps toward running for office.
