Reflecting on Pope Francis’ First Year

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — It was one year ago this past Thursday that Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis.

In the past year, the Pontiff has been credited with revitalizing the image of the church through his views on topics like social justice and accessibility, even using Twitter to reach Catholics worldwide.

Yesterday. the Pope was been invited by House Speaker John Boehner to address a joint meeting of Congress. If he accepts, it would be unprecedented as no Pope has ever addressed Congress.

Father Bill Pomerleau from the Diocese of Springfield joined ABC40′s Chris Pisano Friday night to discuss the Pope’s first year in office.
