Mass. Lawmakers to Hold Hearing on “Green” Bills

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts lawmakers are taking advantage of St. Patrick’s Day to hold a hearing on a series of “green bills” related to the environment.

The bills being heard before the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture include a proposal to create a climate adaptation management plan.

The goal of the plan is to guide Massachusetts leaders now and in the future to protect the state’s natural and man-made infrastructure from the effects of climate change.

The committee will also take testimony on other bills including measures that deal with water and sewer infrastructure investment.

Committee Senate Chairman Marc Pacheco said the panel is interested in bills that will help clean up the environment and promote public health and energy efficiency.

The hearing is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. at the Statehouse.
