Four Displaced, After Basement Fire Damages Holyoke Home

House FireHOLYOKE (WGGB) — Four people are without a home Wednesday, after a fire badly damaged their Holyoke home.

Four Holyoke Fire crews responded to a fire in the basement of a home on 107 Newton St. shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

The Holyoke Fire Department said that the fire began in the basement and spread to the first floor.

The damage was such that the parents and two teenage children who live in that home were not able to return.

Red Cross is assisting that family with food and shelter.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of that fire.
