Spring has Sprung!

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Spring is FINALLY here. The season changed over at 12:57 p.m.

This is when the Spring Equinox took place. This means the sun’s direct rays are directly over the equator and heading north, towards us, here in the Northern Hemisphere.

This is also when every place on earth has almost 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark.

Springfield will actually have 12 hours and 8 minutes of daylight today, with the sun coming up at 6:54 this morning and setting at 7:02 this evening.

The days will continue to grow longer in the Northern Hemisphere until the first day of summer.

Happy Spring!
Dan Brown and your ABC40 First Warning Weather Team
