Girl Injured in Boston Bombings Gets Running Leg
BOSTON (AP) — The family of a Boston girl who lost part of her left leg in the Boston Marathon bombing says she has come a long way on the road to recovery over the past 11 months.
The Richard family released a photo Friday that showed Jane Richard, now 8, grinning widely and wearing a prosthetic leg she can use for running and everyday activities.
Jane’s brother, 8-year-old Martin, was one of three people killed in the April 15 bombing at the marathon finish line.
The Richard family said in a statement that it has been a tough year but they try to remember their son’s laughter and caring heart.
One hundred people have signed up for the marathon as part of Team MR8. They’ll run to raise money for the foundation set up to honor Martin.
