Northampton Brewery Reopens After Two Months
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) –It’s a busy lunch hour at Northampton Brewery.
It’s been closed for 10 weeks for renovations, but you wouldn’t even know it.
“We actually took a whole wall, the wall that used to be a back bar, is now an open concept kitchen. the oven is doing a lot more than pizza,” said owner Janet Eggleston-Cichy.
They’ve also knocked down a wall in the brewery and expanded it, so they can make much more beer.
The Brewery has been around since 1987. No major upgrades had been done since 2009.
Eggleston-Cichy says these were way more extensive, and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. “Everything’s been brought up to the 21st century, which is really nice,” she giggled.
In order to make it happen, the restaurant bar had to close, and only some management staff were paid.
Others had to collect unemployment, or find another part time job.
“For the people who work here, to be out of work that long, we were just grateful that everyone came back. It’s incredible. It’s hard to know what to say about everyone came back,” Eggleston-Cichy stated.
Now with Spring’s approach and a new rooftop bar, Eggleston-Cichy says business can only get better.
