Three Amherst Schools Placed into Lockdown Wed. Morning
AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) — A report of an “unaccompanied man” in one Amherst school forced school officials to put three schools into lockdown.
The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District says that on Wednesday morning, “an unaccompanied adult male was discovered” in the Amherst-Pelham Regional Middle School.
As a result, the Amherst Police Department was called in, and the middle school, along with Amherst Regional High School and Wildwood School, were placed into lockdown.
School officials say that a search of the middle school was conducted and “no unauthorized adult was located.”
The lockdown was lifted by noon.
Amherst Police continue to investigate the incident.
